Hi Lo Gambler is a card game that can be played by any number of players. The game is played with a regular deck of 52 cards. Aces are worth 1 point, 2s through 10s are worth face value, and a Jack, Queen or King (J,Q,K) are each worth 10 points. An Ace can also be used as 1 or 11 points, depending on what would give the player the best advantage.

The goal of the game is to score as close to 31 points as possible without going over. The first player to reach 31 points wins the game. If no player has reached 31 points after all cards have been played, the player with the highest point value wins the game.

To begin the game, each player is dealt 7 cards face down. The remaining cards are placed in the middle of the players face down, creating a draw pile. One card is then turned over and placed face up next to the draw pile to start the discard pile. The player to the left of the dealer starts the first hand.

On a player's turn, they must draw one card from either the draw pile or from the top of the discard pile and then play one card from their hand. Cards can be played on either the discard pile or on top of another card in the draw pile. When playing on top of another card, the new card must have a higher point value than the old card. Aces are high or low (i.e. 1 or 11). J,Q,K can be used as 10s or faces depending on what would give you better odds. If an Ace is played as 1 it cannot be counted as 11 later in that same turn even if it gets reshuffled back into your hand).

If you cannot play any cards from your hand, you must pick up one card from either deck to keep your hand size at 7 cards again.. You cannot pick up a discarded card to add back to your hand however; you must take a random card from one of the two decks. Once you have picked up a card you must then play one immediately if possible!

Once all players have no more cards in their hand (7), they must lay them all down in front of them and end their turn even if they still have points that could contribute to their total score for that round (e.g - You have 18 points but since all players put down their last 7 cards now your opponent has 20 points so even though you could've went over 31 and won...they technically win instead!).. At this point whoever has most recently "went out" (put down ALL their cards at once) gets an extra bonus applied to their final score which will be detailed below). Play then moves clockwise around table for next person who still has cards in their hand. Play continues like this until there's only one player left who has any remaining cards..and they're automatically crowned victor!! Congrats! :)
